This wrecksite (MN11-AG) is very similar to Budvanski Zaliv 2 (MN11-AF). A slightly disturbed mound of amphoras forms the primary portion of this largely intact wreck site.
Although impacted by fishing activity, this wrecksite appears to have suffered a fewer less drag net impacts than Budvanski Zaliv 2 nearby as there are fewer single amphora examples scattered around the site periphery. The site has a general elongated shape that has lost some of the typical ‘ovoid’ shape as the drag net impacts tumbled some amphoras off the main stack.
All of the amphoras observed on the surface and protruding from the seafloor are of the type Lamboglia 2. A single example was raised for identification and recording: MN11AG-0001. This amphora revealed an early stage in the developmental history of the Lamboglia 2 type and provides a provisional date of the second half of the 2nd century BCE. Many of the amphoras exhibit a large amount of marine growth as with MN11-AF.
